If you find exercise boring, you are not alone. A lot of people are not interested in working out regularly. Despite what aerobic junkies might think, this does not mean you are lazy or too spoiled by an overly easy lifestyle. Life has become a rush from one activity to another for most of us and it is no easy feat to fit in one more commitment to our busy schedules. And let’s face it, many people find the mindless repetition of the same movements downright boring. It doesn’t have to be this way, however. There are many people who engage in activities that they find fun, as well as those who are willing to overlook a boring exercise routine to gain the benefits.
Whichever way you want to look at it, avoiding exercise is bad for your well being. Perhaps you have a successful career and earn a good living but it takes everything you’ve got. There’s no time for exercise, but you believe you can push through on sheer determination until your forties or fifties when you plan to kick back and relax a little. Somehow you believe you will be able to catch up on exercise later and focus on your health at some time in the distant future.
The problem with this plan is that life doesn’t always turn out the way you plan. Businesses can close, jobs can be lost, family members can have a health crisis and you can well find that you have to stay in the fray and keep working as hard as you are doing now. Unfortunately, if you ignore your health now and fail to exercise, you will not have the health and fitness required to meet those demands in the future. You can give yourself an excellent chance of having a happy and enjoyable life now and well into your retirement years by simply doing thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise a day.
If your primary goal has been financial, it is time to rethink your priorities. Money cannot buy good health. If your high pressure lifestyle leads to high blood pressure and high cholesterol, it will have dramatically increase your risks of heart disease and stroke. Money cannot solve this problem. However, daily activity, like walking, along with a healthy diet can go a long way to recapturing your youthful vigor and giving you an energetic edge in whatever you’re doing, and might even add years to your lifetime.
It’s never too late to start. Exercise can keep you looking trim or can help you regain a youthful shape. If you are working in a professional capacity, appearance matters. Believe me, you won’t be presenting the image you want if you are overweight.
So even though walking, jogging, or lifting weights, can be boring and take valuable time away from your other pursuits, it is important to find a way to include it in your daily routine. Doing so will not only increase your general fitness, it will actually help your body cope with work and family pressure and increase your endurance. Now, that’s a good deal.
As an added incentive, you might want to consider that most members of the opposite sex will find an attractive body shape more appealing than a big bank account, especially in short term relationships where your long term financial position will be considered less important. Strange, but true.
It is in your own best interest on every level to take a step back from your busy life and find a way to include some daily exercise in your schedule. You deserve to do this for yourself.
